Export Promotion Council (EPC) in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Kenya Institute of Business Training (KIBT) undertook company coaching program funded by JICA Trade Training for SME exporters. KIBT and JICA project team implemented Cluster Business Management training courses in Kariobangi, Nairobi and Thika towns followed by on-site consultations to the selected companies among the participants.
The aim of this program was to enhance EPCs relationship with exporters by training EPC sector champions and KIBT lecturers and engaging in a company coaching exercise. The company coaching targeted 16 companies from: Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Thika and Nakuru. Company coaching included a Pre Coaching Export Audit (PCEA) for interested companies to identify areas of problem or gaps within the SMEs. The team later visited the companies to validate the observations made during the previous session of on-site visits.
